Importance of Green Marketing




This is my another blog post. I would like this time write about important thing for marketing.it's challenging for marketing some times. Green Marketing is the marketing of products that are presumed to be environmentally safe. Thus green marketing incorporates a broad range of activities, including product modification, changes to the production process, packaging changes, as well as modifying advertising. Yet defining green marketing is not a simple task where several meanings intersect and contradict each other, an example of this will be the existence of varying social, environmental and retail definitions attached to this term. Other similar terms used are Environmental Marketing and Ecological Marketing. 

Importance of green marketing


  • As resources are limited and human wants are unlimited, it is important for the marketers to utilize the resources efficiently without waste as well as to achieve the organization's objective. So green marketing is inevitable.

  • There is growing interest among the consumers all over the world regarding protection of environment. Worldwide evidence indicates people are concerned about the environment and are changing their behavior. As a result of this, green marketing has emerged which speaks for growing market for sustainable and socially responsible products and services.
  • Thus the growing awareness among the consumers all over the world regarding protection of the environment in which they live, People do want to donate a clean earth to their children. Various studies by environmentalists indicate that people are concerned about the environment and are changing their behavior pattern so as to be less hostile towards it. Now we see that most of the consumers, both individual and industrial, are becoming more concerned about environment-friendly products. Most of them feel that environment-friendly products are safe to use. As a result, green marketing has emerged, which aims at marketing sustainable and socially-responsible products and services. Now is the era of recyclable, non-toxic and environment-friendly goods. This has become the new tune for marketers to satisfy the needs of consumers and earn better profits.
  • Green marketing is a vital constituent of the holistic marketing concept. It is particularly applicable to businesses that are directly dependent on the physical environment; for example, industries like fishing, processed foods, tourism and adventure sports. Changes in the physical environment may pose a threat to such industries. Many global players in diverse businesses are now successfully implementing green marketing practices.

You believe Social Media is a powerful tool at present


 It is a powerful tool, because it allows people to communicate at a very intimate level. It was never there before. The closest thing we had was email back in the early '80s and '90s. We suddenly found out that we do not need to call anymore or send letters but we could send digital information. It was never personal by the way. We type something but we never know the recipient reads it.

 Now we have social media, where we call it an 'Opt-in' channel. You are not forced to be in there but if you are in it, you choose to obtain, which means you choose to receive and send. Now I can even contact President Barack Obama if we want to. We can follow him in my Twitter feed and make a suggestion to him. Somebody may see it and respond. In the past if we have ever sent a letter to the White House, they would just look at it and throw it away. Social media forces us to communicate better.



 

The other aspect of social media I like is that it is not there for just speaking or amplifying your voice but listening to it. Now we can look at my Twitter feed and find out what people say about my organization. So, if we work for Dell Computers, the moment we see five people complaining about a fault, we do not have to wait for them to call. All of a sudden we can raise the alarm for my team and say there is an issue here and we can assign them to go and fix it. Before the fault gets big, we can listen to them. Listening part of social media is huge. Most CEOs are scared about social media, because people are complaining about it and there is a big chatter about it. I am saying that is one-half of it. Think about the listening part. They have a way to know what people say, their competition, industry sector and the target audience. It is like an intelligence gathering organization.

Nowadays are specially increasing using the remarketing on adwords. I think this is the suitable campaign for targeting their customer. Therefore we can increase customer loyalty for own company or brand. and also we can increase sales volume.

Social media is the tool of the decade for marketers and brands. With new technologies and the advancement of online and mobile advertising, social marketing has advanced at an exponential rate. In order for brands to compete in today’s cut-throat marketing wars, adapting to this new technology is essential.

Face book, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, and other social media platforms each have different methods that achieve particular goals for brands. These platforms have transformed the marketing industry by opening several windows of opportunity for improved targeting and communication with consumers.

The consumers feel more appreciated by a brand, which creates a positive experience that will entice consumers to keep returning to that brand. The brands benefit in several ways, such as retaining customers, creating direct relationships, and delivering desired messages. the best aspects of social media are the ability to identify key and new consumers, create one-on-one relationships and conversations, testing new products, and co-creating new products with consumers.

There are different features in each social media platform that make it fitting to brands’ specific goals.” Several factors play a role in determining the best form of social media to use Facebook is the Holy Grail for re targeting  greater reach, and customer engagement Instagram is useful for retaining established consumers. Pinterest helps solve the question. Also, we've been using a lot more Google+ recently. Every company should start to venture towards Google+

. Brands must decide what type and level of engagement they are seeking and what goals they hope to achieve through their engagement with consumers. Then and only then will brands be able to take full advantage of the wide variety of social media platforms.

MY FIRST EXPERIENCE ABOUT WEB BASED LECTURE


our infancy time we went school our chooty teacher used the black board and loudly speak and thought us. but nowadays it's changed,then i came university using white board and pen but now changed using web based lecture in digital era wow... thanks all people given this opportunity

I have seen this type of lecture on the Internet but I never participated this kind of lecture. This is my first experience. I think it is great opportunity to student who likes us. As i think it represent tradition of modern technology for education. I warmly thanks to people who gave this chance for me. I think this type of modern things will help to enhance our knowledge about web based learning. 




First of all I would like to thank Mr. Amitha Amarasinghe who was organized this lecture. Technology that they use here is webinars. Simply Webinar is a way of conducting lecture and workshop through the Internet. My first webinar experience was on Search Engine Optimization which was conducted by Mr. Suranga Priyashantha who is a senior marketing consultant at Australia. He conducted the lecture from Australia and we participated from the university premises.
This is very effective method and this generates lot of advantages. Mr. Suranga who is our resource person is from Australia. So even physically we can't contact with him because of the distance. This technology made a remarkable opportunity for us to get the knowledge from that kind of resource person. Mr. Suranga did this lecture very well by using some slides. After the lecture traditionally we fear to ask question form lecturer. But that time we asked some question from lecturer through the Facebook.
Here I explain my personal experience about web based lecture. So some time I felt this method is uncomfortable. Why I said like that. Because students couldn't joined with lecture interactively and we couldn't asked question when lecture is going on.
I think this is not a big issue. This is the first step. So we have to develop lot of areas. In near future we can do this in a better way by minimizing issues with modern technology.

 If we go through the internet we can meet lot of web sites which are different with options and preferences. I think you might have visited thousands of web sites and would have ambiguous thoughts and evaluations of them. This is my second blog post I would be significantly considering about web development through the web usability. Among the leading website ikman.lk keeps a greater position and I hope to evaluate that through ikman.lk based on the checklist given.
We can consider about on that web site following criteria

·         Navigation

Accessibility
1.       Site loading time
Site loading time of ikman.lk site is not too long as it takes about 5,6 seconds.

2.       Adequate test to background contrast
The color changes in to different positions of background. So there can see a normal contrast between background and text.

3.       Font size, spacing is easy to read
Fonts are big and highlighted as can see in some necessary places of vital information. it’s sometimes make small and difficult to read.

4.       Flash /add- ones are used sparingly
It’s available with flash and add-ons and continues normally with no restriction to the users and no disturbance for any surfing.

5.       Images have appropriate ATL tags
It’s difficult to find ATL tags in the web site.

6.       Site has a  not found / 404 page
It’s available with a customized page.

Identity
1.       Company logo is prominently placed
Ikman.lk have some identification logo it’s there seen for us.
2.       Tag line
              Tag line is free classified in Sri Lanka
3.     Home page is digestible in 5 seconds
It is very clear to extract information from the home page. Quickly and easily information  can be accessed.

4.     Clear path to company information
With the links available you can obtain many information and by clicking more           possible to find many.

We can easily access contact details of the company also from the menus.


Navigation


      1.     Main navigation is easily identifiable
Through the different parts and links available and as you can see in the images not difficult to identify the main navigations.

     2.     Navigation labels are clear and concise
Navigation labels such as offers, lower rates, IDD low charges are very clear to see very consistently

3.     Number of buttons and links are reasonable
It’s fit to the line expecting the user and even with the fonts. So they are really reasonable.

4.     Company logo is linked to the home page
When we click on the logo it makes the path to home page.

5.     Links are consistent and easy to identify
As they appear in a manner which is with clear links it makes an easy form to identify.

6.     Site search is easy to access
It’s easy to access as the search button is available at the side.


Content
1.    Major headings are clear and descriptive
You can see major headings as the links and when you need to enter  them you need to go through links.
2.    Critical content is above the “fold”
Main areas are covered with the logo and vital details about the rates and offers are under the logo.
3.    Styles and colors are consistent
The logo is colored with white background and mix of colors in dialog. If you go through links it also contains some color differences.
4.    Emphasis is used sparingly
Some parts are with bold and some emphasizes are there to see.
5.    adds and pop ups are unobtrusive
Pop ups are not seen much. But some ads are available.

     6.  Emphasis is used sparingly:

                Topics are in red color as it is the theme color and also highlighting areas are bolded

                Ads are visible in a side of the page. But popups are hardly found.

                                 HTML titles are basically giving and idea about particular page contents.



This is simply about my evaluation about usability of the website of  ikman.lk according to above mentioned 25 criteria.
